FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
Questions are part of the process.
Psychedelic integration can raise questions about what integration involves, what support looks like, and whether a particular form of support is right for you.
Here you'll find answers to some of the questions we hear most often about individual and group integration.
-
Psychedelic integration is the process of reflecting on a psychedelic experience and exploring what significance it may hold in your life. This can involve making sense of emotions, insights, memories, questions, or changes in perspective that emerged during or after an experience.
Integration does not require arriving at a particular interpretation. It can be a process of staying curious about what happened, noticing how the experience continues to unfold, and considering how it relates to your relationships, values, sense of self, and everyday life.
-
Our integration services are primarily intended for people who are preparing to make sense of, are currently processing, or have previously had psychedelic experiences. There is no requirement that an experience be recent, profound, positive, or even easy to describe.
If you are unsure whether psychedelic integration is the right kind of support for what you are experiencing, you are welcome to get in touch.
-
Individual sessions are conversational and collaborative. You might explore a particular moment from an experience, work with emotions or questions that have emerged, notice connections with your relationships or life history, or consider how insights from an experience might be carried into everyday life.
There is no predetermined agenda or meaning that needs to be found. Sessions are guided by what feels most relevant to you.
-
Group integration brings people together to reflect on psychedelic experiences in a facilitated setting. Sessions may include sharing experiences, listening to others, exploring questions that have emerged, and noticing what becomes possible through conversation and connection.
You are not expected to arrive knowing exactly what you want to discuss, and participation does not require sharing every aspect of your experience.
-
Individual integration offers dedicated one-to-one space to explore your experience in depth and in the context of your particular history, relationships, and circumstances.
Group integration introduces another dimension: the perspectives and presence of other people. Hearing others’ experiences, recognizing common themes, encountering differences, and noticing what happens in relationship can themselves become part of the integration process.
-
No. Participation does not mean you have to disclose everything—or anything—you are not comfortable sharing.
People can participate in different ways. At times you may want to speak about an experience or question; at other times, listening and reflecting on what others share may be valuable in itself.
-
The Open Integration Group is intended for adults interested in reflecting on psychedelic experiences in a supportive, relational setting.
Because a group may not be the appropriate form of support for every person or circumstance, we may have a brief conversation with prospective participants to understand what they are looking for and whether the group is likely to be a suitable fit.
-
Individual psychotherapy is provided within the professional and legal requirements governing confidentiality, including circumstances in which disclosure may be required by law or professional obligations.
In groups, participants are also asked to respect the privacy and confidentiality of others. However, because other participants are present, group confidentiality cannot be guaranteed in the same way as confidentiality in individual psychotherapy.
-

-
Yes. Integration is not only for experiences that feel positive or insightful. Psychedelic experiences can sometimes leave people with difficult emotions, confusion, changes in their sense of self, existential or spiritual questions, or experiences that are difficult to understand.
Individual integration can provide a space to explore these experiences carefully and determine what kind of ongoing support may be helpful.
